So how can you avoid being a victim of a phishing scam?

The best way to avoid getting caught in a phishing scam is to remember to do two things:

- Don’t click on links within emails that ask for your personal information: It is always best to go directly to the site and never click through email links.

- Companies will never ask you for information they already have, so don't give it to them. If you must, then contact the company by telephone to verify the request.

- If you have unknowingly already supplied personal or financial information, contact your bank and credit card company immediately.

- Forward suspicious e-mail to [email protected] to help the authorities catch fradusters and put an end to phishing scam.
