It features a double-pane view that allows you to compare two text files side by side with color-coded line numbers telling you if each line has been added, deleted, or changed. Other features include drag-and-drop support, text search, custom color, and font settings.

Category: File Utilities Our Rating:  Description: Comparator is an alternative to the Microsoft� Briefcase. All you need to do is select any two folders that might be sharing files and click Scan to let Comparator compare the two folders and summarize the results. If the two folders have been set up with identical subfolder trees, you can include the subfolders in the comparison too. And if you're only interested in looking at certain types of files, make a list in the "User Defined" dialog box. The Missing Files, Newer Files and Duplicate Files tabs will quickly show you where you're at, and the Copy, Update and Delete buttons will allow you to make changes quickly. Works extremely well.

Category: File Utilities Our Rating: Description: OrdiTouch allows you to rename files en masse and change their date, time and attributes in one operation. You select your file(s) by specifying a mask, visually or by dragging and dropping any path or file from Explorer. Then you enable and configure any of the three functions to use. You may give all your files the current date/time with a mouse click or enter any valid date/time manually, set the new attributes (read-only, archive, etc.) and define any alphanumerical prefix for the new file names. Your files will be renamed sequentially by appending a numerical suffix. The sequence may start at any number. OrdiTouch is a multi-threaded Y2K compliant freeware for Windows 95, 98 and NT. You can minimize it and let it process in the background a large number of files.

The program writes out CRC (Cyclic redundant code) for a selected file or for all files in selected folder. You can then copy the results to clipboard or paste to a text file and compare this to the results of the original, to see if the files are exactly the same.
